Highlights and Guidelines of Specifications for Coating, Fabrication and Field Handling

Epoxy-coated reinforcing may be specified using the following ASTM and AASHTO specifications. In addition, ACI 301 Standard Specification for Structural Concrete may be used. It is recommended that bars be purchased from plants that are certified through the CRSI Epoxy-coated Bar plant Certification Program.

ASTM A934/A934M Standard Specification for Epoxy-Coated Prefabricated Steel Reinforcing Bars (covers coating application and fabrication provisions; guidelines for field handling).

ASTM D3963/D3963 Standard Specification for Fabrication and Jobsite Handling of Epoxy-Coated Steel Reinforcing Bars (covers fabrication and field handling only).

ASTM A884/A884M Standard Specification for Epoxy-Coated Steel Wire and Welded Wire Fabric for Reinforcement (covers coating application and handling at the plant; guidelines for field handling).
